Soccer is innovating

Since its inception in 1864, association soccer has grown to become the undisputed, largest sport in the world. Soccer has become a part of life in practically every country. With every country having its own footballing authority with funds to back the overarching governing bodies, such as FIFA, it’s easy to see how soccer has innovated so much, so quickly.

One of the lead innovations is the core business of Edel Grass: synthetic soccer pitches. The surface we play on has been altered greatly by influences, such as health and safety, research and development, and environment authorities. We all know the feeling of playing a game in a field on a rainy morning: trying to take down a fast, opposing attacker sliding through mud, or attempting to spray the ball wide only for the ball to stop a few metres short of its intended destination. The risk of injury to both ourselves and our opposition as well as on-pitch performance are key aspects we consider when creating our synthetic soccer pitches. Aside from these aspects, our synthetic soccer pitches also have practical advantages, such as low day-to-day maintenance.

Quality synthetic soccer pitches

Officially FIFA-recognized as the highest standard of synthetic soccer pitches, 3G pitches are currently the pinnacle of synthetic soccer pitches. In their most rudimentary form, our range of 3G synthetic pitches consist of synthetic turf, sand infill, and rubber infill. Additionally, our customers can opt for an absorbent pad underneath the turf to further limit risk of injury and increase ball speed.

Because our business isn’t limited to solely artificial soccer solutions, we offer all manner of pitches to also suit multisport fields, tennis courts, rugby pitches, and hockey fields. To this end, we offer 2G pitches, too. These pitches have shorter blades of grass and sand infill, which is ideal for fast paced sports which don’t require heavy physical challenges. All of our pitches are completely customizable in regard to blade height, density, and yarn shape; all of which impact the way the sport is being played.

The future of synthetic soccer pitches

As previously mentioned, the highest FIFA-recognized standard of synthetic soccer pitches is 3G (3rd generation pitches). However, at Edel Grass we also recognize the need for the next generation of synthetic soccer grass (4G pitches). 4G pitches are the next step in being more environmentally friendly. Although not recognized by FIFA, we do offer 4G pitches for councils to install. These pitches have all the realism and benefits of 3G pitches, without the need for crumb infills, limiting the use of plastics further. We pride ourselves in being at the forefront of this innovation and are hoping this new generation gains recognition from the necessary sporting authorities.

Champions League pitches at your club? Just start with Hi!

Although we look back at the times we slid around in muddy fields, we need to take off the nostalgia-glasses and move into the future. Synthetic soccer pitches raise the speed and skill of the game, with the additional benefits of safety and low maintenance. Feel free to get in touch with our experts to discuss the possibilities our 2G, 3G, or 4G synthetic systems could offer your club or local pitch. If you would like some inspiration or references, we offer an overview of our previously completed projects. At Edel Grass we recognize synthetic soccer pitches as the future standard and we believe it should be readily available. Therefore, we only ask you start with “Hi!”.
