The International Contracting team at Edel Grass has successfully completed a new football pitch in Madagascar. The FIFA Forward Football Hub at the Carion Training Center in Nandihizana was developed for the Malagasy Football Federation and represents a major step forward in the modernization of football infrastructure in the country.
A transformational football facility
As part of the FIFA Forward programme, the Carion Training Centre has undergone extensive renovation to become a modern facility for Madagascar. The upgrade aims to create facilities that will strengthen the national teams and contribute to the development of youth and women’s teams, as well as the broader growth of football in the country.
The rehabilitation project includes full renovation of buildings, technical buildings, and tribune areas, site lighting by Oostendorp Netherlands, sports fencing solutions by Fenceweb, irrigation systems, and critically the installation of a FIFA Quality Pro artificial football pitch.

Premium FIFA Quality Pro turf system
For the pitch upgrade, Edel Grass installed its Edel Diamondblade 40 system with SBR infill, offering excellent stability and surface responsiveness. Paired with a ProGame shock pad, this high-performance artificial turf is designed to deliver optimal performance while meeting FIFA Quality Pro
Addressing unique challenges
The project presented notable logistical challenges due to its remote location in Madagascar, including long supply routes and material coordination. Despite this, the collaborative effort between Climb Construction, local partners, and Edel Grass ensured smooth execution and timely progress throughout the construction period.
A significant aspect of this project was the involvement of local Malagasy workers, further strengthening community engagement and knowledge transfer in delivering elite football infrastructure.
Impact and Legacy
Upon completion, the Carion Training Center now features one of the most modern FIFA certified football pitches in the region, enabling:
- National team training at international standards
- Enhanced support for youth and women’s football programmes
- A foundation for long-term football development in Madagascar
This facility not only elevates the sporting infrastructure but also contributes to broader social and athletic development, providing a platform for future talent to thrive and bring them to a higher level.
