Ribblesdale High School in Clitheroe, UK, has upgraded its sports facilities with a new artificial grass field, aiming to provide a reliable, high-quality playing surface that will benefit students for years to come.
Facing the need to replace their aging sports surface, the school sought a solution that could withstand daily use while aligning with their commitment to the environment. To meet these needs, they opted for our groundbreaking renewable ‘Edel Athmos’ system.
Crafted with 50% recycled turf components, ‘Edel Athmos’ breathes new life into ‘end-of-life’ systems that would otherwise go to waste. The recycling technology behind this innovation comes from Re-Match, with whom we partnered last year. They developed an ingenious process to separate all components of end-of-life artificial turf and convert them into raw materials for reuse in new products, including new artificial turf systems. Paired with our ‘Edel Xero’ backing, which is made with 43% recycled components, ‘Edel Athmos’ offers a truly unique, circular, and renewable solution—without compromising on quality, performance, or durability.
For the Ribblesdale project, we supplied Blakedown Sport & Play with the latest turf and system specifications. They carefully removed the existing sports surface and replaced it with the brand-new ‘Edel Athmos’ 3G system. The new field is built for durability and performance, designed to handle daily use while providing a reliable and consistent playing surface. Blakedown managed the entire installation process, ensuring a smooth transition from the old turf to the new system.

By choosing a system made with recycled components, the school has significantly reduced its environmental impact. The use of recycled materials in both the yarn and backing demonstrates that high-performance sports fields can be built in an eco-conscious way.
