Nothing gives us more energy than the excitement of professional athletes when they play on one of our fields. Last year, players of Swedish club IFK Norrköping played matches against local clubs on existing Edel Grass soccer systems in the area. They all liked the performance and play of our Edel Future DS field system so much, that they convinced IFK club management to replace their own main field in the Östgötaporten Stadium, even though this existing field was only 2 years in use! Only this time, they chose the best there is in stadium quality artificial soccer grass: Edel Future DS.
Working with clubs like IFK Norrköping is truly amazing. The Swedish club has a great history. IFK is co-founder of the modern football competition of Sweden in 1924. Not only are they one of the oldest and biggest clubs in Sweden (they were founded in 1897), but they are also multi-champion in the Swedish 1st League, also known as the Allsvenskan. Our Swedish contractor KSAB Könstgras made sure they only got the best of the best to play and win all of their upcoming matches.
Preferred by the players
The renovation of the main soccer field of IFK Norrköping was completed last spring. Since the players of the club loved the characteristics of the Edel Future DS they’d played on before so much, we installed the same system, but with a durable sub-base and performance infill. The existing E-layer was cleaned and repaired. Silica sand was applied as stabilizing infill and to assure IFK of a fantastic playing experience, recycled SBR rubber granules were used as performance infill. All together this makes the field a high-performing FIFA Quality and FIFA Quality Pro approved soccer field, ready for professional use.
Impeccable soccer facilities
As part of the deal, we provided IFK Norrköping with a new indoor training facility next to the Östgötaporten Stadium. The old indoor field was rebuilt using our Edel Soccer 5 XP infill-free turf. This field is designed for lifelong consisted play in which no stabilizing sand is required. This way, the players of IFK are prepared for all the matches to come.
Talking about matches…
In fact, IFK Norrköping already had their first official match on the new field last month! And how could it have been any different: they won the match with flying colors. The game ended in 2-1 for IFK Norrköping against Kalmar FF. Although the crowd wasn’t there to cheer them on, they enjoyed every minute of it on the amazingly performing field. And that shows.
