In that respect, we are privileged to make a direct and active contribution to the growth of soccer worldwide. Our recent FIFA project in Sierra Leone is one of them.
Although the COVID situation is troubling many locations worldwide, Edel Grass managed to finalize both the construction as well as the installation of turf at the beautiful lush spot of Kenema in Sierra Leone. Kenema is the third largest city of the country and is known for their passion for football. The Kamboi Eagles is their local professional football club in which they take great pride. No wonder the SLFA (Sierra Leone Football Association) wanted only the best for their newest football pitch!
Edel Diamondblade
Thanks to the well-known movie ‘Blood Diamond’, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou, Kenema is known as one of the cities of diamonds. What better product to install here than the Edel Diamondblade? Our Edel Diamondblade system is a solid performer, which makes it perfect for professional and intensive use. Looking at the artificial turf, it’s almost indistinguishable from natural grass. The system owes its name to its diamond-shaped piles, which spring back in position perfectly and make it a proven system for long-term performances. The installation
In March 2021, we went to Sierra Leone with a complete Edel Grass team, consisting of installers and engineers in order to finalize the project. After a full inspection of the ground, foundation and masonry works, we started unrolling the carpet. In a period of two weeks’ time, we completed the installation in collaboration with local assistence. Not much later, the SLFA came out with a blaze of glory to accept their new turf pitch.
