Systems without (performance) infill have been around for many years. These first non-filled pitches offered a solution when circumstances asked for good playability and robust durability.
The latest trend around infill-free pitches, often referred to as 4th generation or 4G, is they are positioned as new innovations, offering the benefits of non-infill whilst approaching the performance caracteristics of 3G systems.
