End of October 2019 the official handover took place between the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) and FIFA preferred producer Edel Grass.
Edel Grass and their local partner HBS constructed a full size football turf pitch in Yarmag district for MFF. The project was funded by FIFA as part of the FIFA Forward development program.
Earlier this year MFF had requested FIFA president Gianni Infantino to come over to Mongolia to celebrate their 60th anniversary. It was only last weekend FIFA president confirmed he would go on a tour through Asia and would love to visit Mongolia.

For this special occasion MFF arranged a tour through Ulanbataar with visits, meetings and an inspection of the new FIFA turf field built by Edel Grass. The Mongolian president mr. Khaltmaagyn Battulgaand, MFF president Ganbaatar and FIFA president Infantino came to the project site, accompanied by the Mongolian national women’s and men’s team.
During the visit they officially opened the new turf field by cutting a ribbon and handing over the FIFA Quality field certificate. Both FIFA and MFF presidents wanted to know themselves how the field was playing. So they went out on the field and took a penalty shot before leaving Edel Grass’ brand new turf pitch.
“What a great day”, said Mark van Spriel, Edel Grass’ project manager. As there are normally only 2 or 3 technicians present during handover, Mark was happily surprised by the visit of 3 presidents and the national teams.
